MIAM

The first meeting with a mediator is called a Mediation Information and Assessment

Meeting or MIAM and is required prior to attending a joint mediation session or making an application to court for a Child Arrangements Order or other court orders. Your MIAM will last approximately 45 mins and will give you an opportunity to tell the mediator about your situation and the issues that need to be resolved. The mediator will tell you about mediation, give you information to help your situation and other options that may be available to you.

At the end of the meeting, the mediator will tell you whether your case is suitable for mediation, and you can decide whether you want to proceed. If mediation is not suitable and you decide to make an application to court to resolve an issue, then you can ask the mediator to sign the required court form (C100, Form A or FM1), as long as you have attended the MIAM within the last four months.

  • Online MIAMs cost £70 per person and last for approximately 45 minutes.

  • Face to face MIAMs will incur an additional charge depending on location.

  • Out of hours MIAMs (6pm – 8pm  & Weekends) will incur a £15 charge.

  • Cancellation policy (see costs)
